What a busy term this has been! The children have been fully engaged with their new inquiries and are really developing their independence and thinking skills. I hope you enjoy the regular updates on our Facebook page – scrolling through the pictures really highlights all the fantastic things going on here at Horsmonden.
Next term, providing the COVID-19 restrictions are fully lifted, I am proposing a couple of whole school events!
- Wednesday 7th July – Horsmonden Summer Fete on the school field
- Wednesday 14th July – Sports Day on the school field
The Summer Fete is being kindly run by FoHPS and will hopefully feature some of the usual stalls that we all love, but this year it will also be supported by Year 6. Year 6 will be running their own stalls featuring games for children to play. It is part of an ‘Enterprise Project’ where they have to brand, design and run a stall that makes a profit! More details will follow as plans get underway.
The sports day will be held on the school field and will feature traditional, competitive races. Parents are welcome to attend. EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 will start as close to 9am as possible and Year 3, 4, 5, 6 will start after an early lunch, around 12:00pm. Sports Day will end at 2:00pm when all children should be collected from school. This is a Trust wide decision to close at 2:00pm on Wednesday 14th July and there will be no after school club on this day either.
Teachers are busy preparing your child’s annual report. These will be given during the week beginning 5th July. Parents will then have the opportunity to discuss these with their child’s class teacher the following week.
I hope you all have a lovely half term and enjoy the sunshine we’re finally promised to get! I look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday 7th June.
