Dear Parents,

Today we say goodbye to a special group of Year 6 children. They have been a pleasure to get to know over the last 7 years and will leave a special place in our hearts. We have watched them grow in independence, confidence and character, and believe they are now ready to leave Horsmonden and move on. We all wish them the best of luck for their futures and hope they will keep in touch.

Leigh Academies Trust Awards

I am delighted to share that Miss Card was awarded Highly Commended in the Early Careers Teacher category at the Trust Awards recently. The awards recognise the huge contribution that teaching and support staff make to their academies and the Trust. This is a huge achievement for Miss Card and confirms our opinion that she is an amazing teacher! We are so lucky to have her at Horsmonden!

Pond and Allotment Update

Work is now well underway and we are all looking forward to September when we will have our new allotment and pond. Take a look at the progress below:

FoHPS Super Saturday and Sunday – 22nd and 23rd July

The big project for FoHPS at the moment is the ongoing improvements to the playground. The plan is to add a selection of outdoor gym equipment secured to an all weather surface, meaning it can be used all year round, by children of all ages. The equipment will keep everyone active at playtimes and lunchtimes, as well as adding to our provision during PE lessons. The outdoor gym represents a significant investment in the continued development of the playground by FoHPS.

We are hoping the work will start during our Inset Days and will be completed in early September. In order to prepare the ground ready for the new flooring and equipment to be installed, FoHPS are kindly asking for volunteers to help on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd July from 9:30am. The plan is to remove the large mound of earth next to the existing play frame, leaving it fairly flat for the new equipment to be installed onto.

FoHPS have hired a digger and dumper truck and have sourced some willing operators, but still need more volunteers with spades and wheelbarrows! If you are able to join us from 9:30am tomorrow or Sunday, please email the FoHPS Committee on fohpsinfo@gmail.com so they can get an idea of numbers and organise some light refreshments for the workers.

Clubs

Over the summer, we will finalise our range of school run clubs and more details will follow ready for the start of term. All clubs will start the week beginning 11th September, apart from our wrap around care – Breakfast and After School Club, that will start on 1st September.

Attendance

Thank you to those parents who have supported us again, by ensuring your child is in school every day and doesn’t take time off unnecessarily. Today the children who have been here every day this term and on time, were celebrated in assembly and received a certificate.

Thank You

The last year has seen the school grow in numbers, a huge investment in our outdoor facilities, our accreditation as an IB World School, increased engagement with parents, an award winning teacher, happy children, staff and fantastic results from the parent survey. Thank you for all your support of Horsmonden Primary Academy over the last year and I look forward to working with you again next year.

Kind Regards,

Hayley Sharp
Principal
