Dear Parents
Strikes
Following on from my letter last week I can confirm that we are planning to be open as normal on Wednesday 1st February. This is based on information shared with me by teachers. The nature of striking means that teachers could still decide to strike on the morning of 1st February, but I am hopeful this will not be the case.
Class Communication Boards
Further to the information shared last week about the Class Communication Boards, I am sorry to say there has been a delay in these arriving. I am anticipating their delivery in the next couple of weeks which is later than I would have liked, but please be assured they are on their way! The class communication boards will allow teachers to give weekly updates regarding subjects covered in class as well as any notices for the week. Parents can view the board when dropping off and a photo can easily be shared by class reps to keep everyone in the loop.
Whole Trust Parent Survey
I wrote last week with feedback from parents and action needed by school following the 2 Stars and a Wish Coffee morning. This is still ongoing and as and when necessary, updates will be given.
In addition to the feedback gained here through conversations/emails/coffee mornings, the Trust are keen to gain formal feedback from all parents with children at all Leigh Academies Trust Academies.
As a whole Trust we value the feedback of our parents to help us understand what is working well and where we can make improvement. We launched our first Trust annual survey last year which was a great success in terms of participation and it gave us incredible insight that helped us deliver a programme of change across our academies.
We would now like to invite you to take part in this year’s parents’ survey which is going out across all 30 of our academies at the same time as a survey to all our students. Both surveys will be open for a two-week period and close on Friday 10th February at 4:00pm.
As in last year’s survey we are using the sorts of questions that Ofsted poses when it conducts inspections as well as a few specific questions that help us to understand your wider views about the school. We really value your feedback but we understand your time is precious so thank you in advance for participating.
The survey is a Google form which can be accessed by either clicking the below link or typing it into a browser. You should be able to complete the survey from any computer, tablet or phone.

As well as providing the wider Trust with information about your views of Horsmonden, it will help give me an even greater insight into the feelings and thoughts of parents with children at Horsmonden.
Parent Consultations
I am pleased to confirm the dates for our Parent Consultations in March – Tuesday 14th March and Wednesday 15th March from 3:30pm-5:30pm. More details about booking appointments will be sent out nearer the time.
Parent Partnership Afternoon and Coffee Morning
Our next Parent Partnership Afternoon will be on Tuesday 7th February between 1:30pm and 3:00pm. This will give parents an opportunity to see their child’s work and find out more about their learning this term. Rather than having a separate coffee morning this term, Mrs Mcleish and I will be available in the school hall to speak to should you wish to ask any questions or make any comments about anything related to your child’s time at Horsmonden.
Kind regards,
Hayley Sharp
