Dear Parents
Following the heavy snowfall yesterday afternoon and evening, Horsmonden Primary Academy will be closed today. Many of the roads our members of staff need to travel on this morning are still treacherous, especially those close to school. I do not want anyone risking their life to get into school this morning, including children and parents.
Teachers will be providing online learning today through Google Classroom. Below are the meeting times to discuss the work:
- 9:30am – Year 2, Year 3 and Year 5
- 9:45am – EYFS and Year 6
- 10am – Year 1 and Year 4
- 1pm – Year 2, Year 3 and Year 5
- 1:15pm – EYFS and Year 6
- 1:30pm – Year 1 and Year 4
Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 are very familiar with Google Classroom and use it as part of their daily lessons in school. Children in KS1 and Year 3 are developing those skills so may need a little more support from parents at home.
Having said that, due to the short notice of school closing, I am very aware that not all parents will be able to give time to support children learning from home, particularly those that are working.
Please do not worry if your child does not complete all of the work set, or if they hand it in at a different time. Today’s lessons have been adjusted to focus on revision rather than new learning. New learning will take place when they are back in school and will be led by teachers, not parents.
In between completing their work, I hope children have lots of fun in the snow while it lasts! It would be great to see some pictures of snow people on our return tomorrow!
Kind regards
Hayley Sharp
