Parent Update – 8th March 2024

Dear Parents

Thank you for your understanding yesterday afternoon and arranging for your children to be collected so quickly following the problem with our water supply.

Communication via MCAS

The MCAS app is the one stop shop for messages/announcements from school, payment for trips/lunches etc and attendance information. All communication from school, including my Parents Updates go into the MCAS app unless a parent doesn’t have the app yet.

For example, if a child’s mother has the app but their partner doesn’t, the mother with the app will receive the communication in the app under ‘messages’ and their partner without the app will receive an email. This also means that only the mother with the app can pay for trips/lunches etc.

Yesterday, a handful of parents have reported not receiving an email about the school closure. This is because they have the app and the message went through to the ‘messages’ section of the app. An ‘announcement’ was also sent to the ‘announcements’ section. If notification settings are turned off, then parents will not know there is a message/announcement waiting for them in the ‘messages/announcements’ sections without opening the app. For this reason, I am kindly requesting that all parents turn on notifications for MCAS so no one misses important messages from the school.

If you are having problems with MCAS and are no longer receiving notifications, please uninstall and reinstall the app. This will prompt you to select ‘allow notifications for this app’.

World Book Day Afternoon Activities – rescheduled to Monday 11th March

Due to school closing early yesterday, children will take part in their World Book Day afternoon activities on Monday afternoon instead. This is to ensure the children don’t miss out and still get to experience everything they would have done yesterday afternoon. This means the FoHPS Book Sale will go ahead after school on Monday and the ‘Chocolicious Prize Bars’ will be given out in class to those who pre-ordered them. Prize tickets can be redeemed at the FoHPS Stall on the way out of school.

FoHPS Summer Fair – Saturday 8th June, 12pm – 4pm

To support the Summer Fair, we’re asking parents to let FoHPS know if they’re able to help with sponsorship or match funding. Please see the attached flyer for more information. In addition, we are also looking for more volunteers to support on the day. If you are able to help, please let us know.

Parent Consultations – 26th and 27th March, 3:30pm – 5:30pm

We will soon be sending out the Parent Consultation letter for parents to request their preferred day and time to meet their child’s class teacher. Teachers will tell parents how their child is progressing in class, as well as informing them whether their child is ‘working towards,’ ‘working at,’ or ‘working above’ the expected standard for their age in Reading, Writing and Maths. Mrs Kerr, our SENCo, will also be available to meet parents, as will I be.

As always, if you have anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me or Mrs Mcleish. We are outside by the gate most mornings and afternoons.

Have a lovely weekend and let’s hope the sun keeps shining!

Kind regards

Hayley Sharp | Principal
